Covid-19 Policy 2020/21

CURVED DOOR STORE LTD COVID-19 PROTOCOL

2020 has seen unprecedented times with the COVID-19 Virus.  Curved Door Store Ltd have put in place measures to make the workplace as safe and secure as is possible.  It is imperative that all workers adhere to these stringent measures to help protect us all and those we live with or come in to contact with.

These are the main points that Curved Door Store Ltd are working on:

  1. The number of people on site is kept to an absolute minimum
  2. Make sure that on-site staff can spot symptoms (See point 2.A. below)
  3. Tell workers with symptoms to quarantine immediately (See point 3.B. below)
  4. Inform staff of importance of using PPE and handwashing & social distancing (See point 4.C. attached)
  5. Entrances/exits & workstations (See point 5.D. attached)
  6. If a worker has COVID-19, post cleaning (See point 6.E. attached)
  7. Receiving and sending goods safely (See point 7.F. attached)

2.A.      The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  1. high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

  1. new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

  1. loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have any of these symptoms. Stay at home (self-isolate) and get a test.

3.B.      When you must self-isolate:

  1. you have any symptoms of coronavirus(a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
  2. you've tested positive for coronavirus – this means you have coronavirus
  3. you live with someone who has symptoms or has tested positive
  4. someone in your support bubble has symptoms or has tested positive
  5. you're told by NHS Test and Trace that you've been in contact with a person with coronavirus

4.C.     How to ensure social distancing on site, wear appropriate PPE and regular handwashing:

  • Stay 2 meters apart where possible (1 metre at most)
  • Wash hands more regularly and for 20 seconds a time (singing happy birthday twice)
  • Clean surfaces more regularly with antibacterial sprays
  • Wash your hands and clothes after helping someone in an emergency
  • Limited access to the kitchen
  • Have one person at a time getting things from the kitchen cupboards or fridge to minimise contact
  • Advise workers to wear visors when working within 2 metres of clients
  • Work side x side or back-to-back rather than face-to-face
  • Have fixed teams to minimise exposure
  • Provide clean towels daily or preferably paper towel as this can be disposed of after every use and there is no cross contamination
  • Hand sanitiser provided

5.D.     Entrances/exits & workstations

  • Stagger arrival and departure times
  • Open more entrances/exits to the site
  • Provide hand sanitiser for workers and visitors
  • Provide masks for visitors use
  • Close off areas that are not essential

  • Limit the number of people handling equipment
  • Avoid hotdesking as much as possible
  • Run fans on full speed to increase the existing ventilation rate
  • Don’t share pens and other stationery
  • Have hand sanitiser in meeting rooms

6.E.      COVID-19, post cleaning after breakout, to minimise the virus spreading

  • Clean the site before reopening
  • Clean work areas, surfaces & equipment frequently between use with usual cleaning products
  • Clean busy areas more often and thoroughly inc door handles, light switches, printers, vehicles, pallet trucks and forklift trucks
  • Restrict the use of items that are touched often
  • Provide more bins and empty them more often
  • Posters to remind people to wash their hands more frequently
  • Provide hand sanitiser throughout
  • Ensure toilets are cleaned thoroughly and kept clean at all times
  • Towels will be changed daily

  • Minimise contact in yard and warehouse
  • Minimise the frequency for deliveries, for e.g. by ordering larger amounts at a time
  • Have single workers load or unload vehicles if it is safe to do so
  • Have fixed pairs where more than 1 person is required for loading
  • Encourage drivers to stay in the vehicle where it’s safe
